The most significant reduction is in Computer Networks. Topics such as UDP, ARP, DHCP, ICMP, SMTP, FTP, email protocols and flooding based routing have been removed from the syllabus. The transport layer is now limited to TCP flow control, congestion control and the socket API, while the application layer has been narrowed to DNS and HTTP only. The OSI model stack as a standalone topic and basic IP support protocols have also been dropped.

Month 1: Build the Base
Start with Discrete Mathematics, since it overlaps heavily with Algorithms and Theory of Computation later. Cover Programming and Data Structures in parallel, since strong fundamentals here make Algorithms easier to grasp. Take up the revised Digital Logic syllabus early and focus specifically on Karnaugh maps and tabular minimisation techniques, since the section has been reworded for 2027.
Month 2: Cover the Revised COA Syllabus
Computer Organization and Architecture is one of the three revised subjects, so give it dedicated time rather than rushing through it alongside other topics. Focus on pipelining numericals, cache mapping techniques and control unit design, which are the areas most commonly tested. Move to Algorithms once COA is in a stable place, since Algorithms builds directly on Data Structures covered in Month 1.
Month 3: Operating Systems and DBMS
These two subjects are unchanged from 2026 and are considered relatively scoring if practiced through numerical problems such as CPU scheduling, page replacement, and SQL query and normalisation questions. By the end of this month, take your first mixed subject test covering everything studied so far.
Month 4: Theory of Computation, Compiler Design and the Revised CN Syllabus
Theory of Computation is conceptually demanding, so allow extra days for regular languages, context free languages and decidability. Compiler Design usually needs fewer hours if TOC concepts are clear. For Computer Networks, study only the reduced 2027 syllabus. Do not spend time on UDP, ARP, DHCP, ICMP or email protocols since these are no longer part of the exam. Focus on TCP congestion control, IPv4 with CIDR notation, and the DNS and HTTP application layer topics.
Month 5: Full Revision and Weak Area Clearance
By this stage, the entire syllabus should be covered at least once. Use this month to revise every subject through short notes, attempt subject wise and mixed tests regularly, and identify topics where your accuracy is consistently low. General Aptitude should not be ignored here, since 15 marks can meaningfully affect your final rank.
Month 6: Full Length Mocks and Exam Temperament
In the final month before the exam, shift almost entirely to previous year questions and full length mock tests taken under timed conditions.
