GATE XE 2027 (Engineering Sciences) is a national-level postgraduate entrance examination conducted by IITs and IISc for admission to M.Tech, M.E., Ph.D., and PSU recruitment. The GATE Engineering Sciences (XE) paper is uniquely interdisciplinary, allowing candidates to choose any two optional sections from Fluid Mechanics (XE-B), Materials Science (XE-C), Solid Mechanics (XE-D), Thermodynamics (XE-E), Polymer Science and Engineering (XE-F), Food Technology (XE-G), Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (XE-H), and the newly introduced Energy Science (XE-I) — in addition to the mandatory Engineering Mathematics (XE-A) and General Aptitude sections. The GATE XE 2027 exam carries 100 marks with 65 questions over 3 hours: General Aptitude (15 marks), Engineering Mathematics XE-A (15 marks), and two chosen optional sections (35 marks each, totalling 70 marks). This makes GATE XE a strategic choice for aspirants from Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Materials, Polymer, Food Technology, and allied engineering branches, as the competition is comparatively lower than core engineering papers. Prepare topic-wise with our comprehensive GATE XE 2027 syllabus covering all sections XE-A through XE-I, including detailed subtopics on Linear Algebra, Calculus, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamic Cycles, Polymer Processing, Food Engineering, Atmospheric Science, Ocean Sciences, and Energy Storage Systems. This syllabus is based on the official GATE 2026 syllabus released by IIT Guwahati and updated for GATE 2027 aspirants.
