The CTET 2026 application process is entirely online at ctet.nic.in. For the 22nd edition, CBSE opened registration on May 11, 2026, with the last date set as June 10, 2026. The application correction window is available from June 15 to 18, 2026. Errors in the application form — particularly in paper selection, language choice, and qualification details — can affect your eligibility at the recruitment stage even if you qualify CTET with good marks.
CTET registration has one unique feature that differs from most other national examinations: there is no provision to choose your exam city. CBSE allots exam cities on a random basis from 132 available cities, and no change requests are accepted after allotment. Candidates must plan for this possibility when registering.
This page covers the complete CTET 2026 application process step by step: new registration, form filling, document upload, paper and language selection, fee payment, correction window details, and the most common registration mistakes that lead to problems at the exam centre or recruitment stage.
Official Portal: All CTET 2026 registration is exclusively at ctet.nic.in. Do not use third-party portals or agents.

After entering details and verifying via OTP on your mobile, the system generates a Registration Number and Password sent to your registered email. This is your permanent credential for all CTET 2026 activities. Note it immediately.
Log in with your Registration Number and Password. The application form has multiple sections.
Personal Details:
Educational Qualification Details: This section is critical for eligibility verification at the recruitment stage. Fill accurately from your original marksheets.
| Field Details to Enter | |
| Class 10 | Board, year of passing, roll number, marks |
| Class 12 (Senior Secondary) | Board, year, roll number, marks percentage |
| Graduation | University, year, percentage/CGPA |
| D.El.Ed./B.Ed./B.El.Ed. | Institution name, university, year, percentage; or "Appearing" if in final year |
| Any other qualification | As applicable |
Category and PwD Details: Confirm your category. If PwD, enter the type and percentage of disability. PwD candidates receive additional time during the examination.
This is the most consequential section of the application form. Errors here cannot always be corrected after the correction window.
Paper Selection:
| Option Teach Level Shift on September 6 | ||
| Paper I only | Classes I to V | 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM |
| Paper II only | Classes VI to VIII | 9:30 AM to 12:00 Noon |
| Both Paper I and Paper II | Both levels | Both shifts on same day |
Candidates selecting both papers appear in both shifts on September 6, 2026. The morning Paper II shift and afternoon Paper I shift do not overlap, making it feasible to appear in both.
Language I Selection: Choose one language from the available 27 languages (English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and others). This is your medium of instruction for the Language I paper.
Language II Selection: Choose a second language different from Language I from the same list. Language II tests communication ability and language pedagogy.
Paper II Subject Specialisation: Candidates appearing for Paper II must select one of:
This choice must match your graduation subjects for actual recruitment eligibility at KVS and NVS. A candidate who did not study Mathematics in graduation but selects Maths-Science for CTET Paper II may qualify CTET but face eligibility challenges at KVS recruitment.

Review every detail before final submission. After submission, click "Download Confirmation Page" and save the PDF.
Post-submission checklist:
The confirmation page shows: Registration Number, Paper(s) selected, Language I and II, Paper II subject selection (if applicable), fee paid, and category. This document is required during admit card download and as proof if any discrepancy arises.
There is no provision to select the examination city on the online application portal. CBSE will allot the city on a random basis, and no change request will be accepted.
This is a fundamental difference from NEET, JEE Main, CUET, and CAT, all of which allow candidates to select exam city preferences. CTET does not offer this facility.
CTET 2026 will be conducted in 132 cities across India. CBSE allots cities based on the candidate's state of domicile, but within that state, a specific city is assigned randomly. Candidates in states with fewer exam centres may be allotted a city that requires significant travel.
Practical advice: Since you cannot choose your city, ensure you can be mobile on September 6, 2026. Book your travel and accommodation arrangements after the admit card is released on September 4, 2026, which will confirm your specific city and centre.
CBSE provides a correction window from June 15 to 18, 2026 (4 days) to fix errors in the submitted form.

| Signature | Yes |
| Category (with valid certificate) | Yes |

| Personal details (name spelling, DOB) | Limited; contact CBSE for major corrections |

The correction window is the only opportunity to fix errors after initial submission. After June 18, 2026, no changes are possible under any circumstances. Use this window proactively to review all entries against your original documents.
Select "Appearing" for B.Ed. in the educational qualification section. Your application is processed as a provisionally eligible candidate. If you qualify CTET, you receive a conditional mark sheet. The CTET certificate is issued only after you submit proof of completing B.Ed. to CBSE.
Candidates appearing in both Paper I and Paper II on September 6, 2026, should note:
PwD candidates receive additional time during the examination. Specify your disability type and percentage accurately during registration. Carry the original PwD certificate and UDID card to the exam centre.
