The RBI Grade B 2026 application process was conducted entirely online through the Reserve Bank of India's dedicated recruitment portal at opportunities.rbi.org.in. The application window ran from April 29, 2026 to May 20, 2026 (6:00 PM). As of May 20, 2026, the application window is closed and candidates who successfully applied are now preparing for Phase 1 on June 13-14, 2026.
This page serves two purposes: for candidates who applied, it covers what comes next including the admit card download process and the complete post-application timeline. For candidates who missed the 2026 window, it provides the complete application guide for the 2027 cycle, which will follow the same structure.

The RBI Grade B application is submitted exclusively through opportunities.rbi.org.in. Do not use any third-party portal or aggregator.
Click "New Registration" on the portal. Provide:
After submission, a Provisional Registration Number and Password are generated. Save these credentials permanently — they are needed for every future login, admit card download, and result checking.
Log in with the Provisional Registration Number and Password. The application form has multiple sections:
| Section Fields | |
| Personal Details | Name, date of birth, gender, category, nationality, father's and mother's name |
| Contact Details | Permanent address, correspondence address, PIN, email, mobile |
| Qualification Details | Class 10 (board, year, marks), Class 12 (board, year), Graduation (university, year, percentage, stream), PG qualification (for DEPR/DSIM) |
| Stream Selection | Choose: General, DEPR, or DSIM |
| Attempt Count | Declare number of previous Phase 1 appearances |
| Exam City Preference | Select preferred examination city |
| PwBD Declaration | If applicable: disability type, percentage, scribe requirement |
Selecting the correct stream is one of the most important decisions in the application.
| Stream Choose If Avoid If | ||
| General | Graduate (any discipline) with 60%+ marks; targeting banking/regulatory officer role | Below 60% in graduation (UR/OBC/EWS) |
| DEPR | Post-graduate in Economics (55%+) with strong analytical writing ability | Only graduation in Economics (PG mandatory) |
| DSIM | Post-graduate in Statistics or related fields (55%+) | Not having statistics PG qualification |
Selecting DEPR or DSIM without the required post-graduation degree leads to disqualification at document verification. The qualification check is strict.
| Document Format Size Requirements | |||
| Passport-size Photograph | JPEG/JPG | 20 to 50 KB | Recent, light background, clear face, no cap/sunglasses |
| Signature | JPEG/JPG | 10 to 20 KB | Black ink on white paper; candidate's regular signature |
| Left Thumb Impression | JPEG/JPG | 20 to 50 KB | Clear impression in blue/black ink on white paper |
| Handwritten Declaration | JPEG/JPG | 50 to 100 KB | The prescribed text, handwritten in English, black ink, white paper |
The handwritten declaration is a unique requirement in RBI recruitment (similar to IBPS). The exact prescribed text is available in the notification. Candidates must write this text by hand, photograph or scan it against a white background, and upload it within the size limit.
Complete fee payment through preferred mode. Save the transaction ID and e-receipt. The application is confirmed as submitted only after successful fee payment.
Review the complete form on the preview page. After payment, submit the application. Print the application confirmation page and save it. This serves as proof of application.
The application requires candidates to declare the number of times they have previously appeared for the RBI Grade B Phase 1 examination. This is a critical declaration because:
Candidates must honestly declare every previous Phase 1 appearance, regardless of whether they cleared Phase 1 in those attempts.
The photograph must be:
The signature must be:
A block-letter signature is rejected and can cause candidature cancellation.
The prescribed text for the handwritten declaration is published in the official RBI notification. It typically reads:
"I, __________ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required."
This text must be written entirely by hand on a clean white sheet in black/blue ink, photographed clearly, and uploaded within the 50 to 100 KB limit.
Candidates select their preferred exam city during the application. RBI assigns an exam centre within the chosen city based on availability and operational requirements. The assigned centre is printed on the admit card.
Major exam cities typically offered in RBI Grade B: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi/NCR, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Ranchi, Thiruvananthapuram.
Exam city preference cannot be changed after submission (outside any correction window). Choose based on proximity and travel convenience, as both Phase 1 and Phase 2 are typically conducted in the same city.
RBI typically provides a brief edit window (2 to 3 days) after the application deadline for correcting limited fields.
| Generally Correctable Generally Non-correctable | |
| Photograph (if technically rejected) | Name |
| Signature (if incorrect) | Date of birth |
| Exam city preference | Category |
| Contact details | Stream selection (General/DEPR/DSIM) |
Stream selection, name, and date of birth cannot be corrected after the correction window closes. These errors can lead to disqualification at document verification.
The Phase 1 admit card is expected to be released approximately 10 to 15 days before the exam.

Applying for DEPR or DSIM without the required PG qualification: This is the most consequential error. DEPR requires a Master's degree in Economics; DSIM requires a Master's in Statistics or related fields. Graduation alone is insufficient for these streams. Being disqualified at DV after clearing both phases and the interview because of a stream mismatch is a devastating outcome.
Not checking the graduation percentage: The 60% graduation mark requirement for General stream UR/OBC/EWS candidates is strictly enforced. Candidates at 58% or 59% must verify whether they truly do not qualify before applying.
Declaring an incorrect attempt count: False declarations regarding attempt count can lead to permanent disqualification. Declare every Phase 1 appearance accurately.
Block-letter signature: RBI explicitly requires a cursive/personal signature style. Block letter signatures are rejected.
Wrong stream selection: The stream (General, DEPR, DSIM) determines Phase 2 papers and career track. Selecting the wrong stream and clearing the exam creates complications at appointment. Select the stream that matches both your qualification and career intent.
Applying very close to the deadline: The application portal can be slow due to high traffic near the deadline. Complete the application by May 15 to avoid last-day technical failures.
The application window for the 2026 cycle (April 29 to May 20, 2026) is now closed. Candidates who did not apply this year must wait for the 2027 notification.
Based on historical patterns, the RBI Grade B 2027 notification is expected in April to May 2027. The exam calendar typically shows a notification in April, with Phase 1 in June and Phase 2 in July/August.
Use the interim period (now until April 2027) for comprehensive preparation:
Is the application window for RBI Grade B 2026 still open? No. The application window closed on May 20, 2026 at 6:00 PM. Candidates who did not apply cannot participate in the 2026 cycle.
Can I change my stream selection after applying? Stream selection cannot typically be changed after the correction window closes. This is one of the most consequential decisions in the application form.
What is the application fee for RBI Grade B? Rs 850 for UR/OBC/EWS candidates. Rs 100 (intimation charges only) for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
How do I download the Phase 1 admit card? Visit opportunities.rbi.org.in, find the Phase 1 Admit Card link, log in with your Registration Number and Date of Birth, and download the PDF. Expected release: approximately 10 to 15 days before the June 13-14 exam.
What should I bring to the Phase 1 exam centre? Printed hard copy of the admit card, one original valid photo ID, one photocopy of the same ID, and two to three recent passport-size photographs. For detailed exam day guidance, visit the RBI Grade B Exam Day Guidance page.
