The RBI Grade B Result is released in two stages corresponding to the two exam phases. The Phase 1 result determines who advances to Phase 2. The Phase 2 result determines who is called for the Interview. The final selection list, based on Phase 2 + Interview marks, is published after the interview process is complete.
For the 2026 cycle: Phase 1 (June 13-14, 2026) result is expected in early July 2026. Phase 2 (July 25-26, 2026) result is expected in August to September 2026. The Interview is expected in August to September 2026, with the final result in October 2026.

| General | 40 | 280 to 400 |
| DEPR | 14 | 98 to 140 |

The actual shortlisting ratio is at RBI's discretion and is announced with the Phase 1 result. A higher-than-usual Phase 1 cutoff (projected 112-120 for UR) means fewer candidates will clear the threshold, and the shortlisting ratio may be applied to a smaller pool.

The Phase 2 result is released approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the Phase 2 exam concludes.
From the candidates who appeared in Phase 2, approximately 3 times the number of vacancies are shortlisted for the interview (based on Phase 2 merit).
| Stream Vacancies Estimated Interview Shortlist | ||
| General | 40 | 120 to 160 |
| DEPR | 14 | 42 to 56 |
| DSIM | 6 | 18 to 24 |
Phase 2 shortlisting is strictly merit-based: the top-ranked candidates by Phase 2 score within each category are called for interview.
If Phase 1 is conducted in multiple shifts, RBI applies normalisation to ensure fairness across shifts of varying difficulty.
The normalisation methodology maps each shift's score distribution to a common scale using mean and standard deviation adjustments. Practically:
This is why targeting a score of 130 to 145 (rather than exactly the projected cutoff of 112-120) provides meaningful protection against downward normalisation adjustments.
The final selection is based on the combined Phase 2 + Interview score.

The 2025 cycle progressed smoothly from notification (April 2025) to final result (October-November 2025), a total of approximately 6 to 7 months. The 2026 cycle (notification April 29, 2026) is expected to follow a similar timeline, with final result in October to November 2026.

Phase 2 preparation priorities (3-week window between Phase 1 result and Phase 2 exam):
The gap between Phase 1 result (early July) and Phase 2 exam (July 25-26) is approximately 2 to 3 weeks. This is an extremely short window for candidates who deferred Phase 2 preparation.
The most important activities in this window:
Candidates who began Phase 2 preparation alongside Phase 1 study (starting from now) will be dramatically better positioned than those who wait for the Phase 1 result.
| Action Purpose | |
| Download scorecard | Identify which section(s) pulled the score below cutoff |
| Compare section-wise score against minimum qualifying marks | Were you eliminated by an overall cutoff or a section-wise minimum? |
| Identify the largest score gap | If GA was 35/80 and cutoff was 107, more GA preparation is needed |
| Plan for 2027 cycle | Notification expected April 2027 |
| Increase banking/RBI awareness depth | The most common Phase 1 failure point is GA |
The most common reason for Phase 1 failure is insufficient depth in banking and RBI-specific General Awareness. This requires months of consistent reading of RBI publications, financial newspapers, and banking sector updates — not a quick revision in the final weeks.

When will the RBI Grade B Phase 1 2026 result be declared? Based on the Phase 1 exam date of June 13-14, 2026, and the historical 20-25 day result turnaround, the Phase 1 result is expected in early July 2026.

How do I download my Phase 1 scorecard? Log in to opportunities.rbi.org.in with your Registration Number and Date of Birth. Find the scorecard link for Phase 1. The scorecard download window is active for a limited time after the result.
What is the final merit score out of? For General stream: Phase 2 (300 marks) + Interview (50 marks) = 350 marks total. For DEPR/DSIM: Phase 2 (200 marks) + Interview (25 marks) = 225 marks.
