The SBI Clerk result is the official outcome of months of preparation and competitive examination performance. State Bank of India releases separate results for the Preliminary Examination and the Main Examination, with a scorecard for each stage that shows section-wise marks, total marks, and the applicable state-wise and category-wise cutoff. One of the most important distinctions about SBI Clerk results is that scorecards are released for all candidates who appeared in each stage - not just those who qualified. This means every aspirant can access their actual marks and compare them against the cutoff to understand exactly how close they were to selection.
This page covers the complete SBI Clerk 2026 result process with confirmed timelines from the 2025 cycle, step-by-step instructions for checking each stage result and downloading the scorecard, what each scorecard contains, how to read the state-wise cutoff, and the joining steps that follow provisional selection.
For the complete examination guide, visit the SBI Clerk main page. For state-wise cutoff data, see the SBI Clerk Cutoff page.

All dates are estimated. Actual dates will be published on sbi.co.in when the results are released.
The Prelims result confirms whether you have been shortlisted for the Mains examination. SBI shortlists approximately 10 times the total vacancies from each state and category from the Prelims. For the 2025 cycle with 6,589 vacancies, approximately 65,000 to 70,000 candidates were shortlisted across all states and categories.
The Prelims result comes with a Prelims Scorecard showing:
Prelims marks are never counted in the final merit. The scorecard is a performance record for the candidate's analysis only.

The Prelims result is an individual login-based check - there is no single public PDF listing all roll numbers. Each candidate checks their own status independently using their registration credentials.

The Mains result is the most consequential result in the SBI Clerk selection cycle. It confirms who is provisionally selected for the Junior Associate post. Unlike some other examinations that release a shortlist for an interview stage, SBI Clerk Mains result is effectively the final selection result - there is no further written test or interview between the Mains result and joining.
The 2025 Mains result was declared on 27th February 2026 in PDF format on sbi.co.in.
The PDF lists roll numbers of candidates who qualified from the Mains examination and are provisionally selected for the Junior Associate posts. It is published in roll number order within each state.
Method 1 - PDF Roll Number Check:
Method 2 - Scorecard Login Check:
Both methods can be used. The PDF method provides quick confirmation; the login method provides the scorecard with detailed marks.
The Mains scorecard (released approximately 2 to 3 weeks after the Mains result) provides comprehensive performance data. For the 2025 cycle, the Mains scorecard was released on 10th March 2026 alongside the state-wise cutoff marks.
The SBI Clerk Mains Scorecard contains:
| Field Detail | |
| Candidate's Name | As registered in the application |
| Registration Number | Application-stage identifier |
| Roll Number | Examination identifier |
| Category | General/OBC/SC/ST/EWS |
| Section-wise Marks | General/Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude and DI, Reasoning Ability and Computer Aptitude |
| Total Marks Obtained | Out of 200 |
| Normalised Marks | Adjusted marks accounting for difficulty variation across exam shifts |
| State-wise Cutoff | The minimum marks required for the candidate's state and category |
| Qualifying Status | Qualified (Provisionally Selected) or Not Qualified |
The Mains scorecard is released for all candidates who appeared in the Mains, whether they qualified or not. This is a transparency provision by SBI that allows every candidate to understand their performance and evaluate the gap to selection.
Since the Mains is conducted in two shifts, different candidates receive different question papers. SBI applies normalisation to adjust for difficulty variation between the two shifts, ensuring candidates in a harder shift are not penalised relative to those in an easier shift.
The normalised marks on the scorecard may differ from the raw marks calculated by multiplying correct answers by 1 and subtracting 0.25 per wrong answer. The normalised figure is the one that matters for cutoff comparison and merit.
Raw marks calculation: (Correct answers × 1) - (Wrong answers × 0.25) = Raw total out of 200
Normalised marks: Adjusted figure accounting for shift difficulty, applied across candidates who appeared in different shifts.
The state-wise and category-wise cutoff displayed on the scorecard is applied against normalised marks, not raw marks.
SBI Clerk releases a waitlist (also called reserve list) after the main provisional selection list. The waitlist fills vacancies created by:
The SBI notification explicitly advises candidates who fall short by 1 to 2 marks to wait for the waitlist release rather than assuming non-selection.
There is no separate application required for the waitlist. Candidates who were not selected in the main list but scored just below the cutoff are automatically considered for the waitlist in merit order.
After the Mains result confirms provisional selection, the following steps occur before joining:
Provisionally selected candidates who did not study the official language of their applied state as a subject in Class 10 or 12 must appear in the Language Proficiency Test conducted by SBI. Those who can produce a marksheet showing the language was studied as a subject are exempted.
SBI notifies candidates of LPT dates through the official portal. The LPT is conducted at SBI's regional offices or designated centres and tests reading, writing, and speaking ability in the state's official language.
Failing the LPT results in cancellation of the provisional selection. The candidate cannot join SBI for that recruitment cycle.
Candidates who clear the LPT (or are exempted) are called for document verification at an SBI Circle Office or designated centre. Documents to produce:
Any mismatch between the documents and the information submitted in the application - name spelling, date of birth, category - can lead to cancellation of the allotment.
OBC certificate validity: For OBC candidates, the certificate must be from the Central List of OBCs (not just a state list) and must be valid (typically issued within the last 12 months from the joining date). Outdated or state-only OBC certificates are rejected at document verification.
Candidates who pass document verification undergo a pre-employment medical examination at an SBI-empanelled hospital. The examination confirms general fitness to perform the duties of a Junior Associate. Candidates with significant pre-existing health conditions should consult with a physician before applying.
After completing all post-selection stages, candidates receive formal appointment letters and join the bank at the assigned branch. SBI assigns the posting location based on vacancy requirements - candidates cannot choose their posting branch or city. As Junior Associates, they are posted anywhere within the state they applied for.
The joining process includes an orientation and induction period during which the candidate is familiarised with SBI's internal systems, banking operations, and the specific branch's procedures.
For candidates who are not provisionally selected, the Mains scorecard is the most valuable diagnostic tool available for the next cycle. SBI releases scorecards for all Mains-appearing candidates, making this diagnostic possible for everyone.
Step 1: Download the Mains scorecard and note section-wise marks.
Step 2: Compare each section's marks against what a competitive performer typically scores in that section (see the SBI Clerk Exam Analysis page for good attempt estimates by section).
Step 3: Identify whether non-qualification was due to:
Step 4: Design the next cycle's preparation plan around the specific gaps revealed by the scorecard analysis. Use the SBI Clerk Prelims Test Series on Aspirant Mitraa for targeted topic-wise and section-wise practice addressing those gaps.

What is the waitlist in SBI Clerk and how does it work? The waitlist is a supplementary selection list released after the main provisional selection to fill vacancies created by declines, document verification failures, or LPT failures. Candidates who scored just below the cutoff are included in the waitlist in merit order. No separate application is needed for the waitlist.
How long does it take from the Mains result to actual joining? The process from Mains result to joining typically takes 2 to 4 months, depending on how quickly SBI conducts LPT, document verification, and medical examination for the shortlisted candidates. An approximate timeline would be: Mains result (February 2027) → LPT and document verification (March to April 2027) → Medical examination (April 2027) → Joining (May to June 2027).
