The IBPS Clerk result is released in three separate stages corresponding to the Prelims examination, the Mains examination, and the final provisional allotment. Each stage result determines who advances to the next stage or who receives a bank posting. Understanding when each result is released, how to access it, what the scorecard contains, and what immediate actions must follow is essential for every IBPS Clerk aspirant.
Unlike UPSC results which come as a PDF of roll numbers, the IBPS Clerk result is primarily an individual login-based check where each candidate logs in with their Registration Number to see their qualifying status and download their scorecard. This means there is no single downloadable merit list to search through - each candidate must check their own result independently.
This page covers the complete result process for IBPS Clerk 2026 with confirmed timelines from the 2025 cycle, step-by-step instructions for each stage, what the scorecard contains, how the final provisional allotment works, and what candidates should do after each result.
For the complete examination guide, visit the IBPS Clerk Prelims main page. For cutoff marks to benchmark your performance, see the IBPS Clerk Cutoff page.

Based on this pattern, the expected 2026 result timeline is:
These are approximate estimates. Actual dates are announced on ibps.in when the results are released.
The Prelims result confirms whether a candidate has been shortlisted for the Mains examination. IBPS shortlists approximately 10 times the total vacancies in each category from each state for the Mains. With the 2025 cycle having 10,277 vacancies across all categories and states, approximately 1 lakh candidates total were shortlisted for the Mains stage.
The Prelims result also comes with a Prelims Scorecard showing:
Important: Prelims marks are not counted in the final allotment. The scorecard serves as a performance reference only.
Step 1: Visit the official IBPS website at ibps.in
Step 2: Navigate to the "Announcement" or "What's New" section on the homepage. Alternatively, go to Current Openings → CRP CSA-XVI
Step 3: Click the link titled "Result for Online Preliminary Examination for CRP-CSA-XVI (Clerk)"
Step 4: A login page appears. Enter:
Step 5: Click Login/Submit. Your result status and scorecard appear on screen.
Step 6: Click "Download Scorecard" to save the PDF. Print at least one copy.
The Prelims result is an individual login-based check. There is no public PDF listing all roll numbers the way UPSC or some state PSC results work. Each candidate must check their own status using their credentials.
If shortlisted for Mains:
If not shortlisted:
The Mains result is the most consequential result in the IBPS Clerk selection process because Mains marks determine provisional bank allotment. Candidates who clear the Mains cutoff (both sectional and overall) are considered for provisional allotment based on their Mains score, state preference, category, and available vacancies.
The Mains result is accompanied by a Mains Scorecard showing:
The process is identical to the Prelims result check:
Step 1: Visit ibps.in
Step 2: Go to Announcements → CRP CSA-XVI Mains Result
Step 3: Log in with Registration Number and Password or Date of Birth
Step 4: Your Mains result status and scorecard are displayed
Step 5: Download and save the Mains Scorecard PDF
The 2025 Mains Result (CRP CSA-XV) was released on 2nd March 2026 - approximately 3 months after the Mains examination on 29th November 2025.
The Mains is scored out of 200. The final allotment is based on this score, normalised if required. Unlike SBI PO, there is no separate Phase III or interview to add to the Mains score. Mains score alone (with sectional and overall cutoffs cleared) determines allotment order within each state and category.
This makes the Mains score the single most important number in the IBPS Clerk selection process. A candidate who scores 140 in Mains versus one who scores 110 in the same state and category - all else being equal - is significantly more likely to be allotted to their preferred bank.
If shortlisted for provisional allotment:
If not shortlisted:
A common reason candidates miss the Mains result is sectional cutoff failure, which is different from overall cutoff failure. Both can result in non-qualification but require different preparation responses.
Scenario 1 - Failed Sectional Cutoff: A candidate scored 150 overall but only 8 marks in General English when the sectional cutoff was 11. Despite the strong overall score, the candidate does not qualify because one section fell below the minimum.
Implication: This candidate's preparation weakness is specific to English Language. The overall score is competitive; fixing the English gap would likely lead to qualification in the next attempt.
Scenario 2 - Cleared All Sectional Cutoffs but Failed Overall: A candidate scored 12 in each section (above all sectional cutoffs), but the total of 48 falls below the state-wise overall cutoff of 55 for their category.
Implication: This candidate cleared all minimum thresholds but scored too close to the minimums. They need to improve overall performance, not fix a specific sectional gap.
Knowing which scenario applies to you shapes the most effective preparation response for the next attempt.
Provisional allotment is the stage where IBPS assigns qualifying candidates to specific participating banks in specific states. This is the outcome every IBPS Clerk aspirant is working toward.
The allotment is based on:
Candidates do not select their specific bank directly. IBPS assigns the bank based on merit and vacancy availability. Candidates can indicate bank preferences in order of priority during the Mains application or post-Mains registration process (the exact mechanism varies by cycle and is specified in the notification).
The provisional allotment result is published as an individual result on ibps.in:
The allotment letter specifies:
"Provisional" allotment means: The allotment is subject to satisfactory document verification, Language Proficiency Test, and pre-joining medical examination at the allotted bank. Any failure at these stages results in cancellation of the allotment.
IBPS typically releases one or two reserve allotment lists after the main allotment. The reserve lists fill positions that become vacant because:
Reserve list cutoffs are slightly lower than the main allotment cutoff. Candidates who scored just below the main allotment cutoff should monitor ibps.in for reserve list announcements rather than assuming non-selection after the first round.
From the previous cycle (CRP CSA-XIV):
Similar timelines are expected from the 2026 cycle's allotment process.
After provisional allotment, the allotted bank contacts the candidate with specific instructions for document verification and joining. The general process is:
Document Verification: Report to the bank's designated centre (usually the Circle Office or Head Office) on the specified date with originals and self-attested copies of:
Any document that does not match what was declared in the application can result in cancellation of the allotment.
Language Proficiency Test (LPT): Conducted by the allotted bank in the official language of the state. Candidates who studied the relevant language as a subject in Class 10 or above are typically exempted upon producing the marksheet. Others must pass the LPT to proceed to joining.
Medical Examination: Selected candidates undergo a pre-joining medical examination at a bank-empanelled hospital. The medical examination confirms general fitness for the clerical role. Candidates with significant pre-existing health conditions should consult a physician before applying.
Joining: After clearing document verification, LPT, and medical examination, candidates receive a formal offer of appointment and join the bank as a Probationary Clerk (Customer Service Associate). A training period of typically 2 weeks to 6 months follows joining, during which the candidate receives orientation to banking operations.
IBPS Clerk has no attempt limit. Candidates who are not allotted in one cycle can and should apply in the next cycle. The scorecard from any given cycle is the most useful diagnostic tool available.
From the Prelims Scorecard: Identify which section produced the lowest score relative to the cutoff. This is the primary preparation gap to address. Use the IBPS Clerk Prelims Test Series with topic-wise tests specifically for the weak section.
From the Mains Scorecard: Identify whether the non-qualification was at the sectional level or the overall level (see the sectional cutoff discussion above). If General/Financial Awareness was the weak section (common for candidates who do not maintain sustained Banking Awareness preparation), 6 months of daily banking news reading before the next Mains date is the correction.
From the Allotment: If a candidate cleared the Mains cutoff but was not allotted (possibly due to the state-wise merit being higher than their score), the goal for the next attempt is improving the absolute Mains score, not merely clearing the cutoff. A higher Mains score improves allotment rank within the state and category pool.
How long after the Prelims exam is the result declared? Typically 3 to 4 weeks after the last Prelims exam date. For the 2025 cycle with Prelims on 4th, 5th, and 11th October, the result was expected in early November 2025. Exact dates are announced on ibps.in.
Does IBPS send the result by SMS or email? No. IBPS does not send individual result notifications by SMS or email. Candidates must actively check ibps.in using their Registration Number and Password or Date of Birth.
Can I see my marks if I don't qualify the Prelims? Yes. IBPS releases a Prelims Scorecard for all candidates who appeared in the examination, whether shortlisted or not. The scorecard shows section-wise marks and the applicable cutoffs.
When is the IBPS Clerk 2025-26 Mains result? The IBPS Clerk Mains Result for CRP CSA-XV was released on 2nd March 2026 on ibps.in.
Is there a merit list published for IBPS Clerk like UPSC? No. Unlike UPSC, IBPS Clerk result is not published as a single PDF merit list. Each candidate checks their individual result by logging in to ibps.in. The provisional allotment letter received after allotment serves as the official confirmation of selection.
What happens if I fail the Language Proficiency Test? Failing the LPT disqualifies the candidate from joining the allotted bank. The IBPS Clerk Mains result itself is not invalidated, but the specific bank allotment is cancelled. IBPS does not re-allot candidates who fail the LPT to another bank. The candidate can reappear in future IBPS Clerk cycles.
Is the provisional allotment the same as final selection? Provisional allotment becomes final selection only after successful completion of document verification, LPT, and medical examination at the allotted bank. The word "provisional" specifically means it can be withdrawn if any of these post-allotment checks fail.
