The RRB Group D CBT 2026 (CEN 09/2025) is expected in June 2026 across multiple shifts and dates. With 22,195 vacancies and lakhs of candidates across 200+ exam centres nationwide, the RRB enforces strict entry and conduct protocols at every centre. Candidates who arrive prepared with the correct documents, have their Aadhaar biometric unlocked, and understand exactly what happens at each checkpoint from entry gate to workstation will spend zero time on avoidable complications.
This page covers everything a candidate needs for RRB Group D exam day: shift timings, mandatory documents, the Aadhaar biometric requirement, prohibited items, biometric checkpoints, the self-declaration and LTI procedure on the admit card, PwBD accommodations, conduct rules inside the hall, and a complete night-before checklist.
The CBT is conducted in three shifts daily. The exact shift assigned to each candidate is printed on the admit card.
| Shift Reporting Time Gate Closes Exam Start Exam End | ||||
| Shift 1 (Morning) | 8:30 AM | 9:00 AM | 9:00 AM | 10:30 AM |
| Shift 2 (Afternoon) | 12:15 PM | 12:45 PM | 12:45 PM | 2:15 PM |
| Shift 3 (Evening) | 3:45 PM | 4:15 PM | 4:30 PM | 6:00 PM |
These timings are based on the CEN 08/2024 exam schedule (November 2025 to February 2026). The CEN 09/2025 exam in June 2026 is expected to follow the same structure. Always treat the timings printed on your admit card as the authoritative reference.
Gate closure is strictly enforced. No candidate is admitted after the gate closes regardless of reason. Arrive at least 45 to 60 minutes before the gate closure time to account for security queues, biometric verification, and seating allocation.
PwBD candidates requiring scribes or extra time are given 120 minutes (vs the standard 90 minutes). The candidates will get 90 minutes to complete the entire examination; however, PwBD candidates are allowed to complete exam under 120 minutes.
The admit card (e-call letter) for the CEN 09/2025 CBT is expected to be released approximately 4 days before each candidate's exam date. For CEN 08/2024, city intimation slips were released 10 days before the exam and admit cards were available 4 days before.

The admit card contains a self-declaration section, signature box, and LTI box. These must:
Do not write anything on these sections before reaching the centre. Pre-filled declarations are flagged as irregular.
Self-declaration text: Write the prescribed text in your own handwriting, then sign below it, and apply LTI in the designated box.
LTI procedure:
A webcam at the workstation records a live image periodically during the exam. Keep your face clearly visible and unobscured throughout. Do not cover your face with your hands or look away from the screen for extended periods.
| Rule Detail | |
| Do not start the computer until instructed | Wait for the invigilator's signal to begin |
| Read on-screen instructions fully | Instructions appear before the timer activates |
| Check workstation function | Report faulty keyboard, mouse, or screen immediately |
| Do not attempt questions before the timer activates | The system locks questions until the countdown reaches zero |
| Sign the attendance register | Mandatory before starting |
| Complete the admit card self-declaration | Fill, sign, and apply LTI at the centre before sitting |
| Rule Detail | |
| No talking to other candidates | Complete silence throughout |
| Use only official rough sheets | Write calculations on provided sheets only; no personal paper |
| No photographing or screenshotting the screen | Strictly prohibited; immediate disqualification |
| Washroom break | Permitted with invigilator escort; exam timer does not pause |
| Free navigation between sections | No sectional time limit; move between sections freely |
| No leaving before exam ends | Cannot exit before the full 90-minute duration |
The 1/3 mark deduction in RRB Group D is strict. Every wrong answer costs 0.33 marks on a 1-mark question. Disciplined accuracy is more valuable than maximum attempt count.
| Scenario Score Impact | |
| Attempt 90, 85 correct, 5 wrong | 85 minus 1.67 = 83.33 |
| Attempt 100, 85 correct, 15 wrong | 85 minus 5 = 80 |
| Attempt 88, 83 correct, 5 wrong | 83 minus 1.67 = 81.33 |
The first scenario (fewer attempts, higher accuracy) produces the best score. Attempting everything with uncertain answers costs marks through negative marking.
| Action Detail | |
| Return all rough sheets | Mandatory; submit before leaving workstation |
| Do not share exam questions | Strictly prohibited |
| Retain admit card | Required for all subsequent stages (PET, DV, Medical) |
| Check screen before leaving | Confirm all answers are marked as intended |
RRB does not prescribe a formal dress code but issues general guidance.
| Recommendation Reason | |
| Light, plain clothing | Easier security screening |
| Remove all metal accessories before leaving home | Metal detectors at entry; avoids delays |
| Flat or open footwear | Easy to remove if security requires |
| No head coverings except religious (religious coverings allowed with check) | Face must remain visible for biometric |
| Comfortable clothing for 90-minute sitting | Exam halls vary between air-conditioned and warm |
| Requirement Detail | |
| Original disability certificate | Carry to each session; self-attested copies alone insufficient |
| Extra time | 30 additional minutes (120 minutes total instead of 90) |
| Scribe | Must have been pre-declared in application; not requestable on exam day |
| Scribe eligibility | Not appearing in same cycle; not a relative; not over-qualified per rules |

Is Aadhaar mandatory for RRB Group D CBT 2026? Yes. Aadhaar-based biometric verification is mandatory. Carry your original Aadhaar card or an official e-Aadhaar colour printout from uidai.gov.in. Ensure the biometric is unlocked at least 3 days before the exam.
Can I carry a digital copy of the admit card on my phone? No. Only a printed hard copy is accepted. Phones are also prohibited inside the hall.
What if I reach the centre late? Entry gates close 30 minutes before the exam start. Candidates who arrive after gate closure cannot enter under any circumstances. Plan to arrive at least 45 to 60 minutes before gate closure.
Does the exam timer pause during a washroom break? No. The 90-minute exam timer continues running during any break.
Can I carry a water bottle? A transparent water bottle may be permitted at some centres. Check the specific instructions on your admit card. Do not carry opaque containers or food.
What if my Aadhaar name differs slightly from the admit card name? Carry your Class 10 certificate and Aadhaar card together. Inform the gate security about the discrepancy proactively. The biometric verification uses fingerprints, not name matching, so slight name variations are less critical than biometric availability.
