The NEET UG application process is a single-window, online registration that determines everything from which city you appear in, to which category benefits you receive, to whether you are even allowed to enter the examination centre. Errors in the application form, mismatched documents, or incorrect category selection can result in denial of entry on exam day or cancellation of candidature after the result, both of which are consequences no medical aspirant can afford after months of preparation.
This page covers the complete NEET UG 2027 registration process step by step: new registration at neet.nta.nic.in, filling the application form, document upload specifications, fee payment breakdown by category, correction window rules, and the most common registration mistakes that cost candidates their exam year.
All information on this page is based on the official NEET UG 2026 application process as documented in the NTA Information Bulletin and official advisories. The 2027 registration is expected to follow the same structure.
Based on NEET UG 2026 data: online registration was open from February 8, 2026 to March 8, 2026. The registration window is approximately 4 weeks, with a correction window of 5 to 7 days afterwards. NEET UG 2027 registration is expected in February 2027.
Official Portal: All NEET UG 2027 registration activities will take place exclusively at neet.nta.nic.in. Do not use any third-party website or agent for registration.
Visit the NEET UG complete guide for the full exam overview, dates, eligibility, and syllabus.

On the registration page, read all instructions carefully before proceeding. You will need to:
After entering these details and verifying via OTP, the system generates your Application Number and a Password. Write these down immediately. The Application Number is your permanent login credential for all NEET UG 2027 activities including admit card download, OMR sheet access, and result checking.
Aadhaar-based authentication (continued from 2026): NTA uses Aadhaar-based verification to auto-fetch your name, date of birth, gender, and photograph from UIDAI. If your Aadhaar details differ from your Class 10 certificate (spelling variations, initials vs full names), resolve the discrepancy at an Aadhaar centre before registration begins. If an Aadhaar update is not possible in time, carry both documents during exam day and document verification.
Log in using your Application Number and Password. The application form is divided into several sections.

Critical Points During Form Filling:
The State of Eligibility must be the state in which you are completing or completed Class 12, not your birth state or domicile state. This affects your eligibility for state quota seats in medical counselling. Entering the wrong state of eligibility is a common and costly mistake that cannot be reversed after the correction window.
Category selection is locked after the correction window. If you select General when you are OBC-NCL, or fail to select EWS when you are entitled to it, you cannot correct this after the window closes. Double-check your category before submission.
All images must be uploaded in the exact specifications below. The NTA portal automatically rejects files that do not meet format or size requirements.

The application fee is completely non-refundable under all circumstances.
Payment Tips:
Review every detail entered in the application form before final submission. After submission, you cannot make changes to most fields (only the correction window allows limited edits).
After successful submission:
The confirmation page contains your application number, selected exam city preferences, payment confirmation, and basic personal details. Keep it safe until the entire admission process (including counselling) is complete.
NTA provides a correction window after the registration deadline, typically open for 5 to 7 days. This is the only opportunity to fix errors in the submitted form.

Category Certificate Note for OBC-NCL and EWS Candidates: Category certificates for OBC-NCL and EWS must be valid and recently issued. For NEET UG 2027 admissions, certificates dated on or after April 1, 2026 are typically required for OBC-NCL. EWS certificates are issued for a financial year and must be from the current financial year. If your certificate is older, obtain a fresh one from the competent authority before applying.
NEET UG 2026 was conducted across 37 States and Union Territories in India and select international centres (Bahrain, Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat, Doha, Riyadh, Jeddah, Kathmandu, Singapore, Colombo, and others). NTA deployed more than 2 lakh personnel including 6,000 observers and 674 city coordinators for the 2026 exam.
Candidates select up to 4 exam city preferences during registration. NTA assigns a city from these preferences based on availability. If the preferred cities are full, NTA may assign a nearby alternate city.
City Selection Tips:
| Mistake Consequence Prevention | ||
| Wrong date of birth | Mismatch during verification; entry denied on exam day | Enter date of birth exactly as in Class 10 certificate |
| Wrong state of eligibility | Loss of state quota eligibility in counselling | Use the state where you completed or are completing Class 12 |
| Wrong category | Loss of reservation benefit or overpayment | Verify category documents before selecting; do not guess |
| Uploading PNG instead of JPEG | Document rejection by portal | Convert all files to JPEG before uploading |
| Not downloading confirmation page | No proof of successful registration if system issue arises | Download and print immediately after submission |
| Using a temporary mobile number | Unable to receive OTP for future activities | Use a personal number that will be active for at least 2 years |
| Submitting application without checking fee receipt | Incomplete application if payment failed silently | Always verify that the confirmation page shows payment success |
| Incorrect exam city selection | Assigned to a city far from home | Select cities you can actually reach; include a large city as backup |

Q1. When does NEET UG 2027 registration open? Based on the NEET UG 2026 pattern (opened February 8, 2026), registration for NEET UG 2027 is expected to open in February 2027. Check the NEET UG Notification page for official updates.
Q2. Can I apply for NEET UG 2027 without an Aadhaar card? NTA uses Aadhaar as the primary identity verification tool. Candidates without Aadhaar can use a valid Passport for identity verification during registration. Check the official 2027 bulletin for the exact Aadhaar policy applicable to that year.
Q3. Is the NEET UG application fee refundable? No. The NEET UG application fee is entirely non-refundable under all circumstances, including withdrawal from the exam, disqualification, or fee payment errors.
Q4. Can I change my exam city after the correction window? No. The correction window is the only opportunity to modify exam city preferences. Once it closes, city assignments are final. You will receive the City Intimation Slip approximately 2 to 3 weeks before the exam showing your assigned centre.
Q5. I submitted the form but received no confirmation email. What should I do? Check your spam/junk email folder. If the confirmation email is not there either, log in to neet.nta.nic.in with your Application Number and Password. If the system shows your application as submitted and payment as confirmed, your registration is complete. Contact NTA at neet@nta.ac.in only if the portal shows your application as incomplete.
Q6. What should I do if I accidentally submitted the wrong category? Use the correction window to change your category. After the correction window closes, category changes are not possible under any circumstances. If the correction window has already passed and the error is critical, contact NTA at neet@nta.ac.in with supporting documents; resolution is not guaranteed.
Q7. Can two siblings apply for NEET UG using the same mobile number? No. Each candidate must have a unique mobile number and email ID for registration. The OTP verification system requires a unique number per application. Sharing a mobile number between candidates will prevent one registration from completing.
