The NEET UG notification is the document that officially starts the entire medical admission cycle for a year. It sets the exam date, opens registration, prescribes eligibility criteria, publishes the fee structure, and defines every rule that governs the examination and admission process. Every decision a candidate makes between February and July of any given year, from filling the application form to appearing in counselling, is governed by what the official NEET notification and Information Bulletin state.
This page covers everything candidates preparing for NEET UG 2027 need to know about the notification: when it is expected, what it contains, the complete expected key dates timeline, the official history of NEET notifications from 2025 and 2026, what to check first when the bulletin releases, and what to do between now and the notification date to use preparation time effectively.
The NEET UG 2026 official notification was released on February 8, 2026, at neet.nta.nic.in, with registration open from February 8 to March 8, 2026 (later extended to March 11, 2026). The 2027 notification is expected to follow the same February timeline.
Live Update Notice: This page will be updated immediately upon the release of the official NEET UG 2027 notification and Information Bulletin by NTA at neet.nta.nic.in.

For NEET 2026, the bulletin was released as a PDF on February 8, 2026, available for free download at neet.nta.nic.in without any login.
The Information Bulletin covers:
Every candidate must download and read the complete Information Bulletin before filling the application form. The most common and costly application errors occur when candidates rely on summaries rather than the official document.

Live Photo Capture: The NEET 2026 application form introduced a mandatory live photo capture facility. Candidates filling the form were required to take a real-time photograph using their device's camera or a connected webcam. If the device did not support a webcam, candidates could scan a QR code on the form to capture the photograph via their mobile. The background was required to be light-coloured. This is expected to continue in NEET 2027.
APAAR ID Field: The NEET 2026 form included the APAAR ID (Academic Bank of Credits, a 12-digit unique academic identifier) as a registrable field. While not mandatory for all candidates in 2026, it is expected to become more prominent in 2027.
Parent/Guardian Mobile and Email: The NEET 2026 Information Bulletin mandated that the mobile number and email address of the parent or guardian be provided during registration. The NTA sent the confirmation page, OMR sheet access, and scorecard to both the candidate and the parent/guardian email address.
Alternative Biometric Verification: The NTA revised the biometric verification process for NEET 2026 to provide alternatives for candidates whose fingerprints were not captured accurately. This update was made via a public notice after the initial bulletin.

The notification timeline has stabilised in the February to March registration window since 2025, following earlier variations due to COVID-era scheduling changes (2020 to 2022) and the mid-cycle 2024 controversy that led to schedule scrutiny. For 2027, the February notification is the most reliable forecast.
When the NEET UG 2027 Information Bulletin is released, it will be approximately 60 to 80 pages. The following section guide helps candidates navigate directly to the most critical parts.

Contains nationality requirements, age conditions (minimum 17 years as of December 31 of the admission year; no maximum), educational qualification, compulsory subjects, minimum marks, and attempt limit.
What to check: Any change to the age limit, minimum marks, or compulsory subjects. For 2026, these remained identical to 2025. Any change for 2027 will appear here.

What to check: Whether your preferred city is listed. If a city is not listed, select the nearest city as your preference.
Step-by-step registration instructions, document upload specifications, fee structure, and payment methods.

What to check: Any pattern change (in 2025, NTA announced Section A/B structure; in 2026, some sources mentioned possible removal of Section B which ultimately did not happen). Verify whether Section B (attempt any 10 of 15) is retained. Verify whether any syllabus topics have been added or removed by NMC.

When the official notification is released at neet.nta.nic.in in February 2027, follow this priority checklist before touching the registration form.
Verify that you meet every eligibility condition: age (minimum 17 by December 31, 2027), educational qualification (Class 12 with PCB and English), minimum marks (50 percent in PCB for General; 40 percent for OBC/SC/ST), and subject requirements. Applying without meeting eligibility conditions leads to cancellation even after appearing in the exam.
See NEET UG Eligibility Criteria for a detailed eligibility guide.
Write down the registration closing date, correction window opening and closing dates, and exam date. Set reminders at least 5 days before each deadline. NTA extensions (as happened in 2026) are not guaranteed for 2027.
Check that your Aadhaar card name matches your Class 10 certificate. Ensure your passport-size photographs are within 3 months old, coloured, on white background, and within the 10 KB to 200 KB size range. If you need a category certificate, confirm it is recent (typically issued within the current financial year).
Confirm whether Section B (attempt any 10 of 15) is retained for 2027. Confirm the marking scheme (+4 correct, -1 incorrect) and whether any changes have been made. Confirm total questions (180 to attempt out of 200) and total marks (720).
Check NEET UG Exam Info for a full breakdown of the exam pattern.
Download the Information Bulletin PDF and save it on at least 2 devices. Screenshot the key dates page. NTA sometimes updates the bulletin after the initial release if corrections are needed; always refer to the most recently dated version on neet.nta.nic.in.

The NEET UG 2027 notification will be released in February 2027. Between now (May 2026) and February 2027, candidates have approximately 9 months of uninterrupted preparation time. This is the most valuable asset in the entire NEET preparation cycle.
The notification opening should not be the starting signal for preparation. It is the bureaucratic beginning of the exam cycle, not the academic one. Candidates who wait for the notification to start studying have already lost 9 months to competitors who began in May 2026.
| Phase Timeline Focus | ||
| Foundation | May to August 2026 | Complete Class 11 NCERT for Biology, Chemistry, Physics |
| Depth Building | September to November 2026 | Complete Class 12 NCERT; begin reference book practice |
| Integration | December 2026 to January 2027 | Chapter-wise PYQs after every chapter; subject-wise mock tests |
| Pre-Notification Revision | February 2027 | Continue preparation; notification expected; register immediately |
| Post-Registration Preparation | February to April 2027 | Full-length mock tests 3 to 4 per week; revision of high-frequency chapters |
Use the NEET UG Syllabus Tracker to monitor chapter-wise coverage and ensure no important topic is neglected in the preparation window.
Candidates appearing in both NEET UG and JEE Main should note the following notification-related differences.
| Parameter NEET UG JEE Main | ||
| Notification Release | February (single notification) | October/November (Session 1); February (Session 2) |
| Sessions per Year | One (single exam date in May) | Two (January Session 1; April Session 2) |
| Registration Window | Approximately 30 days | Approximately 25 to 30 days per session |
| Correction Window | 3 to 5 days | 2 to 3 days |
| Application Portal | neet.nta.nic.in | jeemain.nta.nic.in |
| Result Timeline | Second week of June | February (Session 1); April (Session 2) |
If appearing in both exams, note that JEE Main Session 1 registration opens in October 2026 while NEET registration opens in February 2027. The exams are in January 2027 (JEE Session 1) and May 2027 (NEET). There is no date clash for the exams themselves, but both require separate registration processes at separate portals.
Q1. When will the NEET UG 2027 notification be released? Based on NTA's pattern (February 8, 2026 for NEET 2026), the NEET UG 2027 notification is expected in the first week of February 2027 at neet.nta.nic.in. This page will be updated immediately upon official release.
Q2. Where can I download the NEET UG 2027 Information Bulletin? The official Information Bulletin will be available as a free PDF download at neet.nta.nic.in once released. No login is required to download the bulletin.
Q3. Does the NEET notification include the exam syllabus? Yes. The NMC-prescribed syllabus for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology is published as part of the Information Bulletin. It is the authoritative syllabus reference for that year's examination. Always verify the syllabus from the official bulletin rather than relying on previous years' lists, as NMC may make changes.
Q4. What happens if I miss the NEET UG 2027 registration deadline? NTA sometimes provides a short registration extension (NEET 2026 registration was extended from March 8 to March 11). However, extensions are not guaranteed. If the window closes without extension and you have not registered, you cannot appear in NEET 2027 and must wait for 2028.
Q5. Can I register for NEET UG 2027 without an Aadhaar card? Aadhaar is the primary identity verification tool used by NTA for NEET registration. In 2026, NTA issued an advisory on January 8, 2026, urging candidates to update their Aadhaar before the registration period. Candidates without Aadhaar may use alternate IDs (Passport) but must verify the exact policy in the 2027 bulletin.
Q6. Is there any change expected in the NEET UG 2027 exam pattern from 2026? No changes have been announced as of May 2026. However, there were discussions in 2026 about potentially removing Section B (the optional questions component). Verify the final exam pattern from the official 2027 Information Bulletin when released.
Q7. What should I do right now (May 2026) while waiting for the NEET 2027 notification? Prepare. The 9 months between now and the notification are the most valuable preparation time available. Complete your NCERT Biology thoroughly, solve chapter-wise PYQs from NEET Biology PYQ, and begin topic-wise tests from the NEET UG Test Series 2027. The notification is an administrative event; preparation is the actual work.
