The SSC MTS application process for the 2026 cycle runs from June 30 to July 31, 2026, as confirmed in the official SSC Examination Calendar 2026-27. Applications are accepted online only through the official SSC portal at ssc.gov.in using the One-Time Registration (OTR) system. There is no offline mode and no third-party application portal.
Candidates who have previously registered for any SSC exam (CGL, CHSL, GD Constable, or others) using OTR already have their credentials and do not need to register again. First-time applicants must complete the OTR before filling the MTS application form.

SSC's One-Time Registration eliminates the need to re-enter basic details for every exam application. It is a one-time process that creates a permanent SSC account.
Candidates who have never applied for any SSC exam must complete OTR. Those who have previously registered for SSC CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD Constable, or any other SSC exam already have OTR credentials and can skip to Step 2.

Candidates applying for both must ensure they meet the Havaldar physical standards (height, chest, weight) before selecting that preference. Selection for Havaldar after CBE will require passing PET (walking 1600 metres in 15 minutes for males) and PST (height and chest measurements).
Two documents are uploaded during the application: photograph and signature.

Save the e-receipt and download the confirmation page. These are the only proofs of completed application.
A correction window opens for a few days after the closing date of July 31, 2026.
| Correctable Fields Non-correctable Fields | |
| Photograph | Name |
| Signature | Date of birth |
| Exam city preference | Category |
| Some contact details | Post preference |
Name, date of birth, and category cannot be changed after submission. Errors in these fields discovered after the correction window closes cannot be rectified and may cause disqualification at Document Verification.
A unique feature of the SSC MTS application process is the self-slotting system, where candidates choose their specific exam city slot. In the 2025 cycle, self-slotting was open from January 16 to 25, 2026.
For the 2026 cycle (CBE: September to November 2026), self-slotting is expected a few weeks before the exam. Candidates who do not complete self-slotting in the specified window are assigned a centre automatically. Check ssc.gov.in regularly for the self-slotting window announcement.
SSC MTS posts are allocated state-wise. Candidates indicate their state preference during the application. Final posting is based on merit, preference, and vacancy availability in the preferred state.
High-demand states (Delhi, Maharashtra, UP) typically have higher cutoffs but larger total vacancies. Lower-competition states have lower cutoffs. Choose your state preference carefully based on where you are willing to work, not just where the cutoff is lowest.
Photograph with wrong background or old date: SSC rejects photographs not meeting specifications. Use a fresh photograph (within 3 months) with a light or white background. Verify the upload preview before proceeding.
Block-letter signature: SSC explicitly requires a cursive signature. Block or printed-style signatures are rejected and can cause candidature cancellation.
Wrong category selection: Candidates claiming OBC without a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate, or claiming EWS without an income certificate, face disqualification at Document Verification. Verify your category before selecting.
Name mismatch with Class 10: Even minor differences in name spelling, initials, or order between the OTR profile and the Class 10 certificate create problems at Document Verification. Use the exact name as printed on your Class 10 certificate.
Selecting Havaldar without meeting physical standards: If you do not meet the height (157.5 cm for males) or chest (81 cm for males) requirements for Havaldar, do not select Havaldar as a preference. Being shortlisted for Havaldar PET/PST and failing wastes your selection opportunity.
Applying in the last 2 days: The SSC portal handles millions of applications in the final days of every window. Server overloads frequently cause failed submissions and payment errors. Apply by July 20 to avoid this risk.
Not downloading the confirmation page: After submission, the confirmation page is the only proof of completed application. Download and save it immediately.
While only a photograph and signature are uploaded during the application, the following originals must be ready for Document Verification after selection.
| Document Purpose | |
| Class 10 Certificate and Marksheet | Date of birth and qualification proof |
| SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwBD Certificate | Category verification (Central Government format) |
| Aadhaar Card | Identity verification |
| Valid Photo ID (PAN, Voter ID, Passport, Driving Licence) | Additional identity |
| Character Certificate | From Gazetted Officer or Institution Head |
| No Objection Certificate | If employed in government/PSU |
| Admission Card for All Stages | Proof of exam participation |
Can I apply for SSC MTS without completing OTR? No. OTR is mandatory for all SSC exams. Complete OTR first, then apply for MTS.
Can I apply for both SSC MTS and SSC CHSL simultaneously? Yes, if eligible for both. Both use the same OTR credentials but require separate application forms and fees. The exam windows for 2026 (MTS: September-November; CHSL: July-September) partially overlap, so check exam dates before applying to both.
What is the last date to apply for SSC MTS 2026? July 31, 2026, as per the official SSC Examination Calendar 2026-27.
Can I change my state preference after submission? State preference can typically only be changed during the correction window (a few days after July 31). After the correction window closes, it is locked.
Is there a limit on the number of applications per candidate? One application per cycle. Multiple applications from the same candidate are rejected and the fee is forfeited.
