The CA Intermediate notification is the official document released by ICAI for each examination session containing exam dates, registration cut-off dates, exam form submission windows, admit card timelines, and procedural instructions. With three sessions per year, staying aware of the notification calendar is essential for every CA Intermediate candidate. Missing a registration cut-off or exam form deadline by even one day can push a candidate back by four months.
This page covers all session-wise dates for 2026 and 2027, how to access ICAI notifications, what the official circular contains, and how to plan around the annual examination calendar.

Each official notification or exam circular released by ICAI covers the following:
| Section Content | |
| Exam Dates | Paper-wise schedule for the upcoming session |
| Exam Timing | Start and end time for all papers |
| Examination Centres | Cities available; centre allocation procedure |
| Registration Cut-off | Last date for course registration to be eligible for the session |
| Exam Form Instructions | How to fill and submit; group selection |
| Fee Details | Exam form fee amount and payment deadline |
| Admit Card Information | When and how to download |
| Answer Key and Objection | Provisional answer key release; objection process |
| Taxation Amendments | Specific Income Tax assessment year and GST notifications applicable |

The taxation amendment circular is one of the most important elements of the notification for Paper 3 candidates. ICAI specifies the exact assessment year and GST circulars applicable, and preparation must align with these specifications.
Primary Source: ICAI Official Website All exam notifications and circulars are published at icai.org. Navigate to Students > CA Intermediate > Examination Circulars.
ICAI Examination Portal Session-specific exam form and admit card notifications appear at icaiexam.icai.org and eservices.icai.org.
ICAI Email Alerts Registered students receive email notifications when new circulars are published, including exam form opening alerts, admit card availability notices, and result announcements.
ICAI SMS Alerts Key dates (admit card release, result declaration) are communicated via SMS to the registered mobile number.
| Month Key Activity | |
| January | Session 3 exam (second to fourth week); Result of previous September session |
| February | Exam form window for May session |
| March | Result for January session |
| April | Admit card for May session |
| May | Session 1 exam |
| June | Exam form window for September session |
| July | Result for May session |
| August | Admit card for September session |
| September | Session 2 exam |
| October | Exam form window for January session; Result for September session |
| November | |
| December | Admit card for January session |
Of all the dates in the CA Intermediate calendar, the following three carry the most severe consequences if missed.
Missing the eight-month cut-off date for a session means ineligibility for that session. The candidate must wait for the next session.
| Session Registration Must Be Completed By | |
| May 2026 | 1 September 2025 |
| September 2026 | 1 January 2026 |
| January 2027 | 1 May 2026 |
The exam form window is open for only two to three weeks per session. Missing both the regular deadline and the late fee deadline means the session cannot be attempted regardless of preparation status.
The admit card must be downloaded and printed before each exam day. Candidates should download it immediately on the day of release to avoid portal access issues closer to the exam.
One unique feature of CA Intermediate notifications is the publication of a Taxation Amendments Circular alongside the main exam notification. This circular specifies:
For example, the May 2026 notification specifies that income tax questions are to be answered for Assessment Year 2026-27 and that GST amendments up to 31 October 2025 are applicable. Candidates who study taxation without verifying the applicable amendments circular are at risk of preparing based on outdated provisions.
The taxation amendments circular is published on icai.org alongside the main exam notification. Always download and read it before beginning Taxation preparation for a specific session.
The notification also specifies:
After receiving the CA Foundation pass result:
For candidates who did not clear one or both groups in the previous attempt:
Direct Entry students registering for the first time must:
After downloading the admit card, verify the following before the exam:
| Detail What to Check | |
| Name | Matches ICAI registration and government ID exactly |
| Registration Number | Correct |
| Exam Centre | Address is clear; visit the location in advance if unfamiliar |
| Group | Correct group(s) selected |
| Paper Schedule | All exam dates and times are listed correctly |
| Photograph | Matches the one uploaded during registration |
Any discrepancy should be reported to ICAI immediately by email to bosnoidica@icai.in or by calling 011-3011-0444.
How many days before the exam is the admit card released? The admit card is typically released 10 to 15 days before the first exam day. For the May 2026 session, admit cards were available approximately in the third week of April 2026.
Where can I find the taxation amendments circular? The taxation amendments circular is published on icai.org under the Examinations section alongside the main exam notification. It is typically released a few weeks after the main exam dates notification.
Can I change my exam centre after the exam form is submitted? ICAI allows centre city change requests during the correction window period after the exam form submission closes. The window is usually open for three to five days. Changes after the correction window are not accepted.
Is the ICAI notification published in Hindi? The official notifications are primarily in English. Key announcements may also be in Hindi, but the English version is authoritative in case of any discrepancy.
What if I cannot download the admit card on the day of release? The admit card remains available on the portal until after the session concludes. However, downloading it early prevents any last-minute issues. If portal access is unavailable, contact the ICAI helpline at 011-3011-0444.
