The IBPS PO Prelims Result is the gateway to the Mains examination. Released as a PDF on the official IBPS website at ibps.in, it lists the roll numbers of all candidates who have cleared both the sectional cutoff and the overall cutoff for the Preliminary Examination. Only candidates whose roll numbers appear in the result PDF are eligible to appear in the IBPS PO Mains.
For the 2026 cycle (CRP PO/MT-XVI), the Prelims exam is scheduled for August 22 and 23, 2026. Based on the 2025 cycle, where the Prelims was conducted on August 17, 23, and 24, 2025, and the result was declared on September 26, 2025, the Prelims result for 2026 is expected in September 2026, approximately four to five weeks after the last exam date.
This page covers the complete result process for IBPS PO Prelims 2026: expected result date, the official 2025 result timeline for reference, steps to check the result, how the scorecard differs from the result PDF, how normalisation works, what the cutoff means, and what candidates should do immediately after the result is declared.
| Stage Expected Date | |
| IBPS PO Prelims Exam | August 22 and 23, 2026 |
| Prelims Result Declaration | September 2026 |
| Prelims Scorecard Download | October 2026 (approximately 10 days after result) |
| Mains Admit Card | September to October 2026 |
| IBPS PO Mains Exam | October 4, 2026 (Official) |
| Mains Result | November to December 2026 |
| Final Scorecard and Allotment | January to March 2027 |
These dates are based on the official IBPS Annual Exam Calendar 2026-27 (released January 16, 2026) and the 2025 cycle timeline as reference. The Prelims result date for 2026 will be officially confirmed on ibps.in once the exam is conducted.
The 2025 cycle provides the most accurate benchmark for what to expect in 2026.
| Event Official Date | |
| Prelims Exam Dates | August 17, 23, and 24, 2025 |
| Prelims Result Declared | September 26, 2025 |
| Prelims Scorecard Released | October 6, 2025 |

| Mains Result | November 2025 |
| Final Scorecard and Result | January 15, 2026 |
| Total Vacancies Filled | 5,208 (revised to 6,189 at final allotment) |
The gap between the last Prelims exam date (August 24, 2025) and the result declaration (September 26, 2025) was 33 days. A similar gap is expected in 2026, placing the result around late September 2026.
The IBPS PO Prelims result is published as a PDF document on ibps.in. It does not show individual marks or section-wise scores. It lists only the roll numbers of qualified candidates along with the category-wise cutoff marks used to determine qualification.
| Component What It Shows | |
| List of Qualified Roll Numbers | All roll numbers of candidates who cleared both sectional and overall cutoffs |
| Category-wise Overall Cutoff | Minimum normalised marks required for each category |
| Section-wise Cutoff | Minimum normalised marks required per section for each category |
| Total Candidates Qualified | The number of candidates shortlisted for Mains |
| Notification for Mains | Instructions and timeline for the next stage |
To find your individual marks and section-wise score breakdown, candidates must download the separate Scorecard, which is released approximately 10 days after the result.
When the result is released, follow these steps to check qualification status.
| Step Action | |
| 1 | Visit the official IBPS website at ibps.in |
| 2 | Click on "CRP PO/MT" in the left navigation panel or homepage banner |
| 3 | Click on "Common Recruitment Process for Probationary Officers / Management Trainees XVI" |
| 4 | Find the link titled "Result for Online Preliminary Examination" and click on it |
| 5 | The result PDF opens in the browser or downloads automatically |
| 6 | Use Ctrl+F (keyboard shortcut for Find) to search for your roll number |
| 7 | If your roll number appears, you are qualified. If it does not appear, you have not cleared the cutoff |
The result PDF is typically large (100 to 300 pages) because it lists thousands of roll numbers. The Ctrl+F search method is the fastest way to locate your roll number.
Save the result PDF and note the page on which your roll number appears. This serves as proof of qualification for internal record-keeping, even though IBPS does not use the result PDF as an official admission document for Mains (the Mains admit card serves that purpose).
The Scorecard is the individual performance document that shows section-wise normalised marks, total normalised marks, and qualification status. It is released separately from the result PDF, typically about 10 days after the result declaration.
| Step Action | |
| 1 | Visit ibps.in |
| 2 | Navigate to CRP PO/MT-XVI section |
| 3 | Click on "Score Card for Online Preliminary Examination" |
| 4 | Enter Registration Number and Password (or Date of Birth) |
| 5 | Enter the captcha code displayed on screen |
| 6 | Click Login |
| 7 | The scorecard PDF opens on screen |
| 8 | Download and save a copy; take a printout for records |
The scorecard is available for download for a limited period only. IBPS deactivates the scorecard link after a few weeks. Candidates must download and save the scorecard within this window.
| Field Detail | |
| Candidate Name | As registered |
| Registration Number | Generated at application |
| Roll Number | Assigned by IBPS |
| Category | As declared in application |
| English Language Score | Normalised marks out of 30 |
| Quantitative Aptitude Score | Normalised marks out of 30 |
| Reasoning Ability Score | Normalised marks out of 40 |
| Total Normalised Score | Sum of all three section scores |
| Qualification Status | Qualified or Not Qualified |
Section-wise scores on the scorecard are normalised marks, not raw marks. A candidate who answered 25 questions correctly in English Language may see a normalised score slightly above or below 25 depending on the overall performance in their shift.
Because the Prelims is conducted in multiple shifts across two or more dates, each shift potentially has a different difficulty level. Candidates who appeared in an easier shift would have a scoring advantage over candidates in a harder shift if raw scores were compared directly. Normalisation removes this inequality.
| Step Process | |
| 1 | For each shift, raw scores are mapped to percentile scores |
| 2 | Percentile scores from all shifts are mapped to a common normalised score range |
| 3 | Candidates in harder shifts receive upward normalisation adjustments |
| 4 | Candidates in easier shifts may see minor downward adjustments |
| 5 | All cutoffs are applied to normalised scores, not raw scores |
A candidate who scored 52 raw marks in a difficult shift may end up with a normalised score of 54, comfortably above the cutoff. A candidate who scored 55 raw marks in an easy shift may see a normalised score of 53, which is still above the cutoff but closer to the threshold.
The practical implication is that candidates should not fixate on hitting a specific raw score. Target a comfortable buffer above the expected cutoff (aim for 62 to 68 in full mock tests for the General category) rather than trying to hit exactly 50. The normalisation process can move scores by 2 to 5 marks in either direction.
The official cutoff for CRP PO/MT-XV Prelims was released along with the result on September 26, 2025.
| Category Cutoff (Out of 100) | |
| Unreserved (UR) / OBC / EWS | 49.21 |
| Scheduled Caste (SC) | 45.96 |
| Scheduled Tribe (ST) | 40.96 |
| Hearing Impaired (HI) | 20.61 |
| Visually Impaired (VI) | 21.65 |
| Orthopaedically Challenged (OC) | 33.57 |
| Section Max Marks UR / OBC / EWS Cutoff SC / ST / PwD Cutoff | |||
| English Language | 30 | 13.25 | 8.25 |
| Quantitative Aptitude | 30 | 6.25 | 4.25 |
| Reasoning Ability | 40 | 9.75 | 5.75 |
Both the overall cutoff and the section-wise cutoff must be cleared simultaneously. A candidate scoring 55 overall but only 5.00 in Quantitative Aptitude (below the 6.25 sectional cutoff for UR) is not qualified.
For a full year-wise cutoff analysis, visit the IBPS PO Prelims Cutoff page.
The gap between the Prelims result (expected September 2026) and the Mains exam (October 4, 2026) is approximately one week in the 2025 cycle. This means there is almost no time to begin Mains preparation after the Prelims result. Candidates who wait for the Prelims result to start Mains preparation face a severe disadvantage.
| Action | When to Do It |
| Begin Mains preparation | Immediately after the Prelims exam, do not wait for the result |
| Download Mains admit card | As soon as it is released (September to October 2026) |
| Check Mains exam centre and reporting time | On the day the Mains admit card is downloaded |
| Complete all Mains-specific topics | Before the Mains exam on October 4, 2026 |
| Download Prelims scorecard | Within the limited window after it is released |
| Save Prelims result PDF | Keep for personal records |
The Mains syllabus includes all Prelims topics at a higher difficulty level plus two additional sections: General/Economy/Banking Awareness and Computer Aptitude. The Mains also has a Descriptive Paper (essay and letter writing) of 25 marks. None of this can be covered in the week between Prelims result and Mains exam without prior preparation.
| Action | Recommended Steps |
| Download Prelims scorecard | Check section-wise normalised scores |
| Identify weak section | The section with the lowest normalised score or below sectional cutoff |
| Begin targeted revision | Use topic-wise tests from the IBPS PO Prelims Test Series for the weak section |
| Register for the 2027 cycle | IBPS PO is an annual exam; the next cycle notification is expected in June 2027 |
| Analyse mock test pattern | Review your mock test scores to identify whether the issue is concept gap, time management, or accuracy |
| Increase full mock frequency | Target 30 or more full mocks under strict 20-minute sectional timers before the next attempt |
Not qualifying the Prelims in one attempt is not uncommon among candidates who eventually clear the exam. The most successful candidates treat each attempt as a data point and make specific adjustments based on scorecard analysis rather than general revision.
For candidates who qualified Prelims and Mains and appeared for the Interview, the final combined scorecard was released on January 15, 2026.
| Final Result Stage | Date (2025 Cycle) |
| Mains Exam | October 12, 2025 |
| Mains Result | November 2025 |
| Personality Test | December 2025 |
| Interview | December 2025 to January 2026 |
| Final Combined Scorecard Released | January 15, 2026 |
| Final Allotment | January to February 2026 |
| Total Vacancies (Revised) | 6,189 |
The final scorecard (released January 15, 2026 for the 2025 cycle) shows Mains section-wise scores, Interview score, and the combined weighted score used for merit ranking.
| Stage | Raw Marks | Weightage in Final Merit |
| Mains Exam (Objective + Descriptive) | 225 | 80% |
| Interview | 100 | 20% |
| Final Score | Combined | 100% |
Example: A candidate scoring 145 out of 225 in Mains and 65 out of 100 in Interview gets a final score of: (145/225 x 75) + (65/100 x 25) = 48.33 + 16.25 = 64.58 out of 100.
This combined score determines merit rank. Merit rank determines bank allotment. Higher rank gives better chance of preferred bank selection.
Candidates frequently confuse the result PDF with the scorecard. Understanding the difference helps avoid missing the scorecard download window.

When will the IBPS PO Prelims 2026 result be declared? Based on the 2025 cycle where the result was declared on September 26, 2025, approximately 33 days after the last Prelims exam date, the 2026 result is expected in late September 2026.
Does IBPS send result notifications by SMS or email? IBPS does not guarantee result notifications by SMS or email. Candidates must check the result directly on ibps.in. Some candidates receive an email notification, but this is not consistent. Monitor the website directly.
What is the difference between Prelims result and Prelims scorecard? The result PDF is a collective document listing all qualified roll numbers. The scorecard is an individual document showing section-wise normalised marks. The scorecard is released separately, about 10 days after the result.
Can I recheck my IBPS PO Prelims result? IBPS does not provide a rechecking or re-evaluation facility for the Prelims. The result is final once declared. Candidates can verify their individual scores through the scorecard.
Is the Prelims scorecard required for the Mains exam? The Prelims scorecard is not required for appearing in the Mains exam. The Mains admit card serves as the entry document. However, download and save the scorecard for personal records.
If I qualify Prelims with a low score, does it affect Mains selection? No. Prelims marks do not carry any weightage in the final merit. Clearing the Prelims cutoff (even minimally) gives full eligibility to appear in Mains. The final selection is based entirely on Mains and Interview scores.
All result dates and scorecard information on this page are sourced from official IBPS result notices and scorecard announcements at ibps.in.
