The CUET UG cutoff is the minimum score a candidate must secure to receive admission to a specific undergraduate programme at a specific university. Unlike NEET or JEE Main, which have a single NTA-released qualifying cutoff, CUET has no centralised cutoff number. Every participating university independently releases its own cutoff after NTA declares the CUET results, based on the CUET scores of its applicants, the number of available seats, course-wise demand, and category-wise reservation requirements.
This means a candidate with 185 out of 250 in Economics may receive an Economics honours seat at BHU but not at Delhi University's top colleges, where cutoffs for the same subject routinely exceed 220 out of 250. Understanding this university-wise and course-wise variation is essential for setting preparation targets and building a realistic university preference list.
This page provides the complete CUET UG 2026 cutoff guide: the difference between CUET appearing cutoff and admission cutoff, expected and historical university-wise cutoffs for DU, BHU, JNU, JMI, AMU, and Allahabad University, course-wise cutoff benchmarks, category-wise cutoff comparison, marks vs percentile data, factors that determine the cutoff each year, and the post-result cutoff checking process.

| Type Description Released By When | |||
| NTA Qualifying Score | Minimum score to be deemed qualified; allows participation in university counselling | NTA (rarely a formal cutoff; CUET score itself is sent to universities) | With CUET result |
| University Admission Cutoff | Minimum CUET score at which a university admits candidates into a specific programme | Each participating university independently | After CUET result; during counselling rounds |
There is no single NTA qualifying cutoff for CUET UG the way NEET has its 50th percentile cutoff. NTA releases scores and sends them to universities. Each university then releases its own merit-based cutoff. A minimum score of 600 is required for prominent central institutions such as DU, AU, BHU, JNU, and JMI for popular courses like B.Com (Hons), B.Sc. Computer Science, and B.A. Economics when considering combined multi-subject totals.
Every year, CUET cutoffs shift based on five primary factors.
1. Exam Difficulty Level If CUET 2026 papers are easier than 2025, more candidates score higher marks, pushing cutoffs upward. If papers are harder, fewer candidates score high and cutoffs drop. The CUET UG 2025 cutoff may be slightly lower than CUET UG 2024 because paper difficulty varied across shifts and normalization was discontinued, meaning actual raw scores rather than normalized scores determine cutoffs in 2025 and 2026.
2. Total Number of Applicants With 13+ lakh candidates appearing annually, an increase in applicants for popular programmes (like DU B.Com Hons) directly pushes cutoffs higher. University of Delhi, BHU, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University received the highest applications among all CUET universities, resulting in higher cutoffs.
3. Seats Available in Each Programme Fewer seats mean higher cutoffs. DU's B.A. (Hons.) English has lower available seats in top colleges, resulting in higher cutoffs (190 to 210 marks in 2023). BHU's B.A. programmes have more seats and typically lower cutoffs than equivalent DU programmes.
4. Category-Wise Reservation Reserved category cutoffs (OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD) are always lower than General category cutoffs for the same programme. The OBC cutoff for DU colleges like LSR, Hans Raj, Hindu, SRCC is expected to be above the 90th percentile in 2024 and 2026, while SC cutoffs are expected above 80th percentile.
5. Normalization Policy From CUET 2024, NTA discontinued the normalization process. While in 2024, the normalization process was discontinued, in previous years, CUET marks and percentile scores were different. Post-2024, raw CUET scores (without normalization) directly determine cutoffs, making high absolute scores more critical than ever.
Delhi University is the most competitive CUET destination. With over 25 lakh registrations historically, DU boasts extremely high cutoffs, especially for North Campus colleges. Last year, we saw marginally lower CUET cutoffs for science programs and slightly higher CUET DU Commerce cutoffs. The Delhi University CUET cutoffs for Arts programs remained stable.

For top universities like Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Banaras Hindu University, the minimum passing marks will be from 700. This refers to combined multi-subject totals where candidates appear in multiple domain subjects. For a single subject score, 200+ out of 250 is the benchmark for top DU programmes.
DU admits students through its CSAS portal. The CUET cutoff at DU is determined through multiple rounds of seat allocation: Round 1, Round 2, and Spot Round. Last year, the first cutoff list was released in October in the CSAS allocation portal. Candidates who are not allotted in Round 1 may receive seats in subsequent rounds at slightly relaxed cutoffs or different colleges.
BHU has consistently lower cutoffs than DU for equivalent programmes due to more seats and lower overall applicant pressure per seat compared to DU's top colleges.

NTA releases individual candidate CUET scores (raw marks per subject and combined totals where applicable) on cuet.nta.nic.in. This happens approximately July 2026.
Using their CUET scores, candidates apply to specific universities and programmes through those universities' dedicated portals (DU's CSAS, BHU's admission portal, JNU's portal, etc.).
Each university releases a merit list showing the last candidate's CUET score admitted in each programme, category, and round. This is the cutoff. Cutoffs vary round by round (typically 2 to 3 rounds of DU counselling).
To check the CUET cutoff, follow these steps once the results are announced: Visit the official website cuet.samarth.ac.in for university-specific CUET counselling portals. For DU specifically, the CSAS allocation portal releases cutoff lists for each college and programme.

Use the CUET UG Complete Test Series 2027 to practice subject-wise under the 60-minute, 50-question format and measure your current preparation level against these targets.
Q1. Is there a common CUET UG cutoff released by NTA? No. There is no single centralised CUET cutoff released by NTA. Each participating university independently releases its own cutoff after CUET results. Every university taking part declares its own CUET UG Cut off; there isn't a universal CUET cut-off.
Q2. What score do I need for DU B.Com (Hons.)? B.Com (Hons.) in DU requires a high CUET score (200+). For top colleges like SRCC, Hindu, and Ramjas, expect cutoffs of 235 to 250 out of 250 for General category.
Q3. What is the CUET cutoff for SC category at DU? SC cutoffs at top DU colleges are typically 50 to 65 marks lower than General category cutoffs. For B.Com Hons., SC cutoff is expected around 175 to 200 out of 250.
Q4. When are CUET 2026 cutoffs released? CUET 2026 cutoffs will be released by individual universities after NTA declares the CUET result (expected July 2026). DU's first cutoff list is expected in August to September 2026 through the CSAS portal.
Q5. What is a good CUET score for central university admission? A minimum score of 600 is required for prominent central institutions such as DU, AU, BHU, JNU, and JMI for popular courses like B.Com (Hons), B.Sc. Computer Science, and B.A. Economics. For a single subject (out of 250), 185+ is a reasonable benchmark for mid-tier programmes at central universities.
Q6. Did normalization affect CUET cutoffs? From 2024, normalization was discontinued. CUET 2024, 2025, and 2026 cutoffs are based on raw marks rather than normalized percentile scores, making raw score improvement directly relevant to cutoff outcomes.
